It’s not promising.ĭue to the cuts though Jessica won’t get the chance to be over stressing about Battler’s fears of boats… actually she won’t even laugh over it and, while I found her behaviour annoying… well, erasing it takes away part of her characterization.ĭespite the various cuts the anime felt the need to let the scene in which Kumasawa asks Battler if he wants to touch her breasts. Overall Battler looks like a comic relief character. In short so far the anime’s characterization of Battler told us he’s afraid to fall from boats (an useless info that doesn’t lead to any development), that he likes to touch girls’ breasts (another useless info as it will never be explained it’s only just an act and the way they portray it makes it look like he’s just a lecherous pervert) and that he gets beaten up by Jessica (a misleading info as it makes him look weaker than Jessica, not mentioning that in the VN he didn’t get beaten up at all). I’ve already said in the previous part that it moved some scenes that took place during the boat trip or prior to it to when the family arrives in Rokkenjima but now let’s look at them a little better.įirst of all, it ‘introduces’ one after the other 11 characters of the main cast… only for them there’s no real introduction apart from a quick mention and one or two words of descriptions (George is Battler’s cousin and is smart, Maria is Battler’s cousin and is cute and pure, Rosa is Maria’s mother, Hideyoshi and Eva are Battler’s uncle and aunt, Rudolf and Kyrie are his parents…) and, as you can read, they don’t really tell much about the characters.īattler’s meeting with Jessica is reduced to him asking to touch her breasts and her beating him for it.
